SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT

NOLDOR S.R.L. develop specialised software for specific purposes. Some examples are exposed bellow.

 Narsil 2.0

NOLDOR NARSIL software version 2.0 calculates dose rates for punctual, cylindrical and prismatic  radioactive sources. The source is decomposed in small portions of one cubic centimetre as a maximum and then the contribution of all of them is evaluated in a point selected by the user. The software takes into account the self-absorption in the source.

The point in which the dose is evaluated is located in a horizontal axis that passes through the source gravity centre. After fixing this point, it is possible to move the source upwards or downwards from its initial position.

For some selected radioisotopes it is possible to evaluate the effect of putting a concrete or lead shield  in the radiation path. In this case the radiation incidence angle in the shield is taken into account.

The following miniature shows the results for a prismatic cobalt-60 source whose gravity centre is located at 60 cm from the reference point. The self-absorption was not evaluated and the lead shield thickness ranged from 0 to 10 cm.

Another important improvement included in this new version is its capability for drawing an isodose map on a circular vertical area whose centre is the reference point. The image is generated point by point and therefore several minutes are needed to complete it. Below the image, a colour scale calibrated in decimal fractions of the maximum dose is shown. The miniature on the left illustrates the picture generated by a punctual source shifted upwards.

NARSIL 2.0 is only available in Spanish.

DTR 8.2

NOLDOR DTR 8.2 software is the last version of a series of developments intended to analyse resident time distribution functions and to fit experimental data. A previous version of this software was bought by the International Atomic Energy Agency to be distributed among all Latin American countries.

Once the data was loaded in the input grid the following tasks can be performed: decay correction, background subtraction and data filtering applying Fourier transformation. The data can be plotted and their tail can be extrapolated by several functions when needed. In any case the original and modified data are available for working.

The data can be adjusted by means of several classic models such as perfect stirring tanks in series, tanks with exchange, diffusion model or tank in series with feedback. In the main screen there is a small viewer showing the plot of the original data and the result of the model in order to appreciate visually the quality of the fitness.

After the best approach was found, the results can be plotted and compared with the original data. A table shows the theoretical statistical parameters as well as the total absolute error and the total quadratic error with regard to the experimental data.

The software has capabilities to solve convolution products using as input function a pulse, a step, the experimental data, the model output or new data. As transference function, the model output, the experimental data or new data can be used.

A region of interest may be defined in order to work only with some portion of the data.

Anduril 2.2

NOLDOR Anduril 2.2 software is primarily intended to get a theoretical approach of experimental data coming from tracer studies carried out in oil wells belonging to secondary recovery patterns. A previous version of this software was bought by the International Atomic Energy Agency to be sent to the Nuclear Research Institute of Vietnam. The new version was also purchased by the same Agency to be distributed among the ten countries belonging to three continents that make part of a Coordinated Research Programme.

Once the data (temporal or volumetric) was loaded in the input grid the following tasks can be performed: decay correction, background subtraction and data filtering applying Fourier transformation. The data can be plotted and their tail can be extrapolated by several functions when needed. In any case the original and modified data are available for working.

The data can be adjusted by means of linear or radial diffusion models. In both cases the experimental data are decomposed in order to get the best approach using the sum of several simple functions. In the main screen there is a small viewer showing the plot of the original data and the result of the model in order to appreciate visually the quality of the fitness. The adjust may be done manually or automatically.

Both the instantaneous and the cumulative responses can be plotted as well as any combination of the simple functions generated by the software. A result table for each function may also be obtained.
